IoD student initiative

Ten sixth-form age students, who have an interest in business and current affairs, have been selected by their teachers to attend the Guernsey Institute of Directors Annual Debate. Following the event, each attendee will be asked to write a blog giving an account of the evening.
The authors of the three best blogs will travel to London on an all-expenses paid trip to attend the Institute of Directors Annual Conference next April.  This is the third time De Putron Fund Management has sponsored this initiative.
Last year’s event took place at the O2 Arena in London and saw local students joined by over 2,000 business leaders, addressed by an impressive line-up of speakers including Chancellor George Osborne, General Secretary of the TUC Brendan Barber and CEO and president of McDonalds UK, Jill McDonald. The 2010/2011 winners were: Adam Piggot, Grammar School Sixth Form Centre, Laura Paisley, Ladies’ College and George Melhuish, Elizabeth College.
