At Airtel-Vodafone, we’re committed to managing our business in an environmentally responsible manner and reducing our carbon footprint is high on the list of our corporate social responsibilities.
At present, we undertake a wide range of practices which show our commitment to the conservation of the environment. We source all of our paper supplies for promotional purposes from sustainable forests, as we know how important it is to ensure the longevity and future of the world we live in.
We’re also an energy conscious company, ensuring that our machines are shut down rather than being left on standby and that our office lights are turned off at the end of the working day. We’ve also encouraged our employees to be more environmentally aware by promoting events such as ‘Walk to Work’ day.
Eco-Active
We’re proud to be a registered Eco-Active business in Jersey. Although the Eco-Active scheme is a Jersey initiative and does not operate in Guernsey, we hope to roll the scheme out to our Guernsey based operations and lead by example as an environmentally-friendly Channel Island company.
Sponsorship
Our sponsorship commitments for this year are focused on supporting environmentally aware charities, such as the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. We’re also working with Jersey Pottery to sponsor the production of recycled bags that are used throughout all their outlets in Jersey.
In Guernsey, we also sponsor the States of Guernsey’s Recycling Scheme to encourage islanders to dispose of their waste in an environmentally friendly manner.
Could you be a greener customer?
Do you have any unwanted / unused handsets lying around? If you do, then bring them into one of our stores - we run a handset recyling scheme in conjunction with Greener Solutions UK. This scheme recycles customers’ unwanted handsets, which are then sent for use in third world countries.
We are also currently finalising a ‘self-care’ account system which will allow you to opt for ‘e-billing’. This means that you will stop receiving their paper bills and instead receive them via email or download them from our website. This will help you to reduce your carbon footprint and, as technology improves, we hope to lessen any unnecessary paper waste even further.
