What does my monthly payment give me in terms of data amounts?
For example, on the 5GBytes a month data plan, you could do all of the following (on average):
- Send 3250 text emails a month
- AND browse the web for 150 hours a month
- AND view 150 two-minute videos
- AND download 300 music tracks a months
This means you could:
- Send 100+ text emails a day
- AND browse the web for 5 hours daily
- AND view 5 two-minute videos every day
- AND download 10 music tracks a day
High usage websites:
Certain websites (see below for list) can cause your monthly usage to be used quickly, as these websites use a range of multimedia for video streaming and online games. We recommend that if you use websites like these, that you should watch your usage and be careful to use these sites in moderation. Otherwise your data allowance could be used up rather quickly and you will be paying 1p for every Mbyte used.
Be careful with usage of the following websites:
1. Lime Wire (or any other file share software)
2. You Tube ( however you can watch 5, 2 minute videos each day)
3. ITV.com (soap streaming sites)
4. Surf the channel (movie streaming sites)
5. World of warcraft (online gaming sites)
How can I check my usage?
From now on, when checking your usage, you should refer to the following amounts:
3GB: Your data allowance is now worth £30.72
For example, if you text ’UNBILLED’ to 121 and receive a text back stating that your usage is £28, you’ll know that you’re still within your bundle’s data allowance. However, if you receive a text that states that your usage is £35, you’ll know that you’ve gone over your bundle’s data allowance.
5GB: Your data allowance is now worth £51.20
For example, if you text ’UNBILLED’ to 121 and receive a text back stating that your usage is £49, you’ll know that you’re still within your bundle’s data allowance. However, if you receive a text that states that your usage is £55, you’ll know that you’ve gone over your bundle’s data allowance.
10GB: Your data allowance is now worth £102.40
For example, if you text ’UNBILLED’ to 121 and receive a text back stating that your usage is £100, you’ll know that you’re still within your bundle’s data allowance. However, if you receive a text that states that your usage is £110, you’ll know that you’ve gone over your bundle’s data allowance.
In order that you are fully aware of how much of your data allowance you are using each month, we ask that you make a note of these prices and refer to them when checking your usage.
What are the download speeds like
The Data USB Modem is ideal for accessing email, surfing the net and catching up with friends on social media sites such as Facebook and MySpace.
The device can also be used for sites like "You Tube" or downloading music but with variant speeds, there is no guarantee on minimum speeds. The maximum speed you can receive is 3.6Mbps
- The factor(s) which can influence the speeds you experience include:
- The distance you are from the mobile mast.
- Trees, buildings, granite walls, etc between you and the nearby mobile mast.
- The number of other users using the nearby mast at any given time.
I need a newer version of the USB Modem Software
The latest version of the USB Software for both Mac and Windows can be downloaded from the Vodafone Group Site.
